MALA and Bator Lobb Present Regulatory Webinars

MALA is pleased to be collaborating with the law firm of Bator Lobb, P.C. which will be presenting four regulatory webinars in August and September.

The webinar titles and descriptions listed below relate to incident reporting, investigations, and discharges/admissions. The webinars are designed for both adult foster care (AFC) and home for the aged (HFA) licensees.

We recognize that these topics are challenging for AFC and HFA licensees particularly as it relates to protecting the rights of all residents in the admission and discharge processes.

The registration fee is $35 for each webinar. You are encouraged to register for all of the webinars. However, you have the option to register for any number of webinars.

The webinars will be presented live. Additionally, a recording of the webinar will be sent to all who register.

“Incident Reporting and Elopements: Keeping Pace with AFC and HFA Rule Changes”

Recent amendments to the Adult Foster Care (AFC) and Home for the Aged (HFA) licensing rules significantly changed the incident reporting requirements and required responses to elopement. This live webinar will review the rule changes along with the implications for AFC and HFA settings.

September 12 – Discharge Process – 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.

“Avoiding Pitfalls When Discharging or Evicting Residents”

Residential and assisted living housing providers are often compelled to discharge a resident due to an increase in medical needs, changes in behaviors that impact other residents or staff, or non-payment for services.  The discharge and, if necessary, eviction of residents from an AFC Home, Home for the Aged or Assisted Living Facility is governed by overlapping, and at times conflicting, legal authority that can cause false starts, increase in costs and duplication of effort. This live webinar provides guidance for completing the discharge and eviction process in compliance with contracts, leases, landlord-tenant law, and applicable licensing rules across the continuum of residential and assisted living housing providers.

September 19 – Admission Process – 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.

“Planning Ahead: Using the Admissions Process to Avoid Discharge Pitfalls”

Following up on our webinar concerning discharge and evictions, many pitfalls that residential assisted living housing providers encounter during the discharge process may be avoided at the time of admission. This live webinar provides practical recommendations to enhance admission processes to facilitate more efficient discharge, eviction and collection actions. We will primarily focus on changes to admission contracts that will place your organization or facilities in the best position to complete a discharge and, if needed, pursue a collection action for non-payment.
